Then you will understand the fear of the LORD

Proverbs 2:1-5

Proverbs 2:1-5

“Then you will understand the fear of the LORD.”

-Very important we can understand the fear of the Lord-(What God is NOT)

  >Is it a scary of fearful emotion? (Like a monster in your closet)

  >A murderer breaking into your house?

  >A bully in school or else where?

No –It should be:

-It should be a reverent awe, respect because of Who He Is.

>God is All in All (Go through some if God’s characteristics)

>God is:

 -Omnipresent- All present> everywhere present

-Omnipotent -All powerful> can do all things

-Omniscient- All knowing > knows everything

If we just know God as this we are missing the one characteristic that

God is and has displayed, and desires to display to each & every person on earth

Who has been and will be.

-Can you guess what that characteristic is?

LOVE!

>Can you girls tell me some of the ways that God has shown His love to us?

>What about you personally, are there any times when God has done something special just for you that showed you just how much He loves you.

>For example (Teacher share a time(s) in which God touched your heart in a special

way, keep it small & simple so the children can relate & see that God shows His love for us also in the small prayers such as help on attest, parents to stop fighting, annoying person in school, a habit the can’t break, etc….

-God’s love>God Is Love (1John 4:8)

Love that is what God is: Complete and absolute perfect love. He is the originator of love and the very essence of love, because God is love!

(I want you all to think about a time in which you have received love. Ex. After falling mom picked you up and kissed your bobo and made it all better. You fell asleep & dad carried you up to bed, you got picked on and a friend made you feel better.)

Understand the fear of the LORD (Why?)

-He is God

-We are accountable to Him

-He is perfect and we are not!

Understand the fear of the LORD (Because)

-Know and understand God’s heart and effort on our behalf

(Creation, redemption, salvation)

-His love and mercy that He poured out for us as Jesus died on the cross.

-Because of this we should have respect and humbleness, humility in our relationship with God.

-Appreciation and awe of knowing God (Not everyone does, appreciate that you do or can)

Understand the fear of the LORD (Now how should we be?)
