Rebuilding the Wall

Nehemiah 4:6-
“So we built the wall, and the entire wall was joined together up to half its height, for the people had a mind to work.”

Preschool Class Lesson Plan

(Object Lesson-Activity time approx.15min)
-Beforehand we set up the class by moving all of the tables out of the way and putting blocks all around in a circle.

Place Blocks in Circle

-When the children entered the class they were instructed to build a wall in front of them.
-We had our helpers (two responsible kids 9 & 10 years of age) make pretend that they were the enemy coming to attack and not only stop the building of the wall but they are trying to break down more of the wall.

Children Rebuilding the Wall of Jerusalem

PRINTOUT > Nehemiah Coloring Page

(Bible Story Time- Activity time approx.15min)

We bring all the children to sit down on a rug area and pay attention.

The teachers reads from their Bible and uses language that the children can understand.

(Craft-Activity time approx.20min)

-We used ‘Enviroblox’ packing peanuts type of craft material. It is wonderful but can be pricey.

We bought ours at half price. If ‘Enviroblox’ is to expensive just use packing peanuts and thick tacky glue that has been sitting out for an hour to make it tackier and faster to dry.
-The children built a wall just like Nehemiah and the other Jewish people who had returned to Jersusalem with ‘Enviroblox’ and all they had to do was place one peanut on a damp paper towel and that made them stick to each other. (We retold the story as they crafted and added more details)

(Snack- Activity time approx.15min)

We offer juice & water, crackers & cream cheese that they build a wall with and then eat!
