>Lesson:
“Kindness” is honestly my absolute favorite godly qualities, but can be a little hard to grasp. It is easier for the children to understand the quality of kindness by giving examples of it.

Jesus showed us what it means to be kind. Does anyone remember what Bible lesson* showed where Jesus was kind?
-When the disciples would not let the children come to Him, and He took a child and placed him right in His lap! (Mt.19:14)
-When Jesus feed the multitudes. (Mt.14:13-21)
-Jesus even died for His enemies! (Jn 3:16)

Children today we are going to learn about Kindness. The Bible says a lot about kindness, and tells us to be kind, so today we are going to learn what kindness is and just how to be kind, because that is pleasing to the LORD. And how do we please God? By DOING what He says, not just learning what He says.
Does anyone know what “Kindness” is? Give children plenty of time to answer.
Kindness is being considerate, compassionate, thoughtful.
You can show kindness by letting someone go before you on line, by sharing yoru seat, sharing your food or especially your toys.

Kindness is going a step beyond helping. Helping is when, say someone drops their toy and you help pick it up. But the child is still sad because their toy is now broke, kindness could be sharing your toy with the child, or even dare I say it, giving the child your toy!
Kindness can be seeing your friend fall and you helping them up and then getting them a band-aide and staying with them until they feel better even though everyone else is playing.
Now that I have explained a bit about kindness does anyone else have an example of kindness?

>Prayer:
LORD we thank you so much for being kind to us. Please help us to be kind to each other and to our family, friends and to people we do not even know.

>Activity
Place a long piece of masking tape across the middle of the floor separating the room
Go through some of the qualities of kindness, such as loving, comfort, helping, sharing, sacrificing, etc.
And the qualities of being unkind: grabbing, mean, hurtful words, shoving, unloving, etc.
Have one side of the tape be the “Kind” side, and the other side be “Unkind” side. Whenever the teacher says a “Kind” quality they jump on the KIND side of the tape. Whenever the teacher  says a qualities of “UNKIND” word the jump on that side.
this is a great game to get out their wiggles & let the children name some qualities too!

>Bee Kind Craft

>Game: Bee Potato (Play like Hot Potato)-Use a Potato and have the children pass it around in a big circle while “Be Kind To One Another” is playing and have a helper who is not watching shut the music off and whoever is holding the ‘Bee Potato’ has to say a quality of kindness and gets to shut off the music for the next round of music. Play until there is only one child left.

We use Bible lesson* instead of Bible story because the word story has changed over the years to mean a fairy tale instead of an actual event. We encourage you to also change your wording.
